Black Nazarene is the ashen figure of Christ, which bears the ignominious cross on his shoulders. The Black Nazarene was brought to the island of Philippines by Augustinians Recollect Fathers from Mexico in the 17th century. The Nazareno has since been housed in the altar of the Quiapo church in Manila.
